Barbara Walters was the first female co-host of The Today Show. Despite being paid only half of what her male co-workers were paid she persevered and finally in 1974 after 13 years of service she was officially named a co-host of The Today Show. Barbara's second male co-host Frank McGee refused to do interviews with her unless he was given the first three questions. Despite all of this Barbara showed women that they can be taken seriously and paved the way for women in the workforce. Now there are countless women in journalism, on television and following in Barbara Walters' footsteps.
