Possible Solutions
In September 2015, the Commonwealth Bank underwent a pay equity review that was guided by WGEA (The Workplace Gender Equality Agency). This included determining what causes the gender pay gap, setting goals and implementing strategies to help eliminate the gender pay-gap. These strategies included internal recruitment teams who were able to analyse and determine equal pay offers and monitoring data in order to observe the effectiveness of the initial steps. Employees had insufficient knowledge as to how to make equal pay decisions, the Commonwealth bank addressed this by providing access to statistics to help.
Step 1: |
Raising Awareness in schools should be the number one priority. Educating teenagers about the gender pay-gap, feminism and their role in ending gender inequality is crucial because today's teenagers are tomorrow's leaders. Teenagers must understand the importance of pay equity in their future workplaces, regardless of whether they are male or female. They must also be aware of factors that affect women from being in leadership positions and be aware of what they can do to make workplaces equal in pay gaps and leadership positions.

Step 2: |
In order to achieve awareness in Australian teenagers, I have created this website to provide an easy way of understanding the issue that our world is facing. My hope that from exploring this website, students around Australia will be inspired to take action by using these steps as a guide. Some ideas are creating a talk for an assignment at school, this could include statistics and campaigns to help make the class aware. Also holding a gender inequality awareness day, where everyone is encouraged to write their name on a large banner showing that they believe in gender equality. The banner should be displayed somewhere special in the school. A social media campaign is also very effective because that is the easiest way to get through to Australia's youth.

Step 3: |
I have created a campaign that I hope impacts teenagers in a positive yet effective way. The campaign encourages Australia's youth to step up and take action to help end gender in equality in the future. The aim is to get people thinking about how gender inequality will affect their future children and grand children. Hopefully this will motivate people to take part in helping the country have equal rights for both genders.
